OLIVER KAUTTER

STATEMENT

STATEMENT

There couldn’t be a more meaningful time to be immersed in the arts. The current political climate has magnified the significance of science, creative expression, education and unification. Creative expression and independent thinking can be our most powerful forms of activism. As a visual artist observing the world around me, I have a desire and obligation to explore, critique and become a resonant voice for my generation. Working in a scale reflecting the magnitude of the issues we face, and using vibrant expressive marks and color that emphasize the intensity of my feelings, I aspire to join an essential conversation.

I was born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico after school, and currently paint and protest in Portland, Oregon.
